The listing of bugle call commands included in the Cavalry Outpost Publication Compact Disk includes:

ASSEMBLY _01
A call to signal all troopers to form up in ranks and the calling of roll.

ASSEMBLY OF BUGLERS _02
A call to signal all buglers to gather at a central location; it is also the first call of the camp day and the signal to wake up, wash and get ready for the morning roll call.

ASSEMBLY OF THE GUARD _03
A call to signal all those assigned to guard duty to assemble and mount the guard. This call was also used to signal the relief of those standing guard.

BOOTS AND SADDLES _04
A call to signal the troopers to their mounts. This call was adopted by the army in 1841.

BREAKFAST _05
A call to signal all troopers to report to the mess tent for breakfast, or time to prepare and eat breakfast.

CHARGE _06
A call to signal a frontal attack on the enemy. This call was adopted by the Army in 1841.

DINNER _07
A call to signal the main meal of the day (lunch), or time to prepare and eat.

DRILL _09
A call to signal troopers to fall in on the drill field for drill instruction.

FATIGUE _10
A call to signal fatigue parties to police the quarters, grounds and stables.

GENERAL _12
A call to signal for all troops to pack up effects, strike tents, load wagons and prepare to move out.

MAIL _13
A call to signal for the troopers to fall in and receive it.

MARCH _14
A call to signal the order to move out in formation.

OFFICERS _15
A call to signal all officers to come to headquarters.

ORDERS FOR ORDERLY SERGEANTS _16
A call to signal all those on duty to stand by for the issue of orders.

RALLY _18
A call to signal the regrouping of the forces in order. This signal summoned all to gather and re-execute a previous command.

RECALL _19
A call to signal a variety of reasons: to call back details, skirmishers, etc. to the main body.

RETREAT _20
A call to signal the evening roll call. The call is sounded when the men are formed on the color line, and signals the 1st Sergeants to call the men to attention for afternoon roll call. The first eight notes are also sounded in the field to signal the falling back of a cavalry action.

REVEILLE _21
A call to signal to mark morning roll call. This was not used to wake up the troops.

SICK _23
A call to signal the assembly of the sick so they could report to the hospital tent for treatment.

STABLE CALL _24
A call to signal those who tended the stable were called to their duty.

TAPS _25
A call to signal lights out.

TATTO/LIGHTS OUT _26
A call to signal the evening roll call. The call was sounded when the men were formed on the color line, and signaled the 1st Sergeants to call the men to attention. This call is also sounded later to signal lights out.

TO ARMS _27
A call to signal troopers to take up their weapons and prepare for a fight.

TO THE HORSES _29
A call to signal the troopers to mount their horses.

TO THE STANDARD _30
A call to signal a formation at the colors, it is hardly ever used in the field.

WATER _31
A call to signal for the details to be sent out for water to replenish the water supply of the camp.
