Principle advisor to senior mission commanders on all aspects of Financial
Management Operations. Provides Technical Oversight to all active duty
finance elements in AOR. Enforces polices and guidelines established by
national providers.
The concept of "Direct Support" began during the Vietnam War. allowing the 1st
Cavalry Division Commander to have direct control over a broad range of
operational specialization and capability in order to carry out its mission.
Now, the current organizational mix of the 13th Finance Center and its Direct
Support Units is the combination of the experience and operational training
developed in conjunction with the long history and needs of the 1st Cavalry
Division.

In direct support of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, the 15th Finance
Battalion services the financial requiremnts of approximately 18,000 soldiers.
In carrying out its operation, the 15th Finance Battalion provides a trained
and ready deployable force to support all units in its Aea Of Responsibility
(AOR) throughout the continuum of peace and war. In addition, it ensures the
financial readiness of supported units prior to deployment; disseminates
policy guidance, assists unit commanders, supports contracting - including
commercial vendor services and provides continuous finance support.

This folio of material highlights of the many subsequent historical critical
missions performed by members of the 15th Financial Battalion, whose actions,
operations and the many critical issues resolved over its 41+ years history to
meet the changing threat and the honors they achieved are summarized in the
following sections:
